Dorothy Jean Seay departed her life on earth on August 2, 2022, at Charter Senior Living of Bay City. She was born June 11, 1943, in Indianola, Mississippi, to Elder Talcum Marsh and Charlotte Louise Marsh. Dorothy was raised in a loving home along with 11 brothers and sisters where she learned work ethics, love, sharing with others, and her most memorable sense of humor.
Dorothy graduated from Mississippi Valley State College, earning a Bachelor's in Secondary Education. She went on to further her education by receiving a Master's Degree of English and Language Arts from Eastern Michigan University. She utilized her degrees by serving as the head coach of the Debate Team at Summit Middle School and later became a leader of the National Honor Society at Beecher High School. With a passion for sharing the gift of education, Dorothy also taught in the Upward Bound Program at Mott Community College. In her free time, Dorothy loved traveling, entertaining, and cooking at the many family gatherings she organized. On many weekends Dorothy could be found in her kitchen cooking her famous peach cobbler. She had a giving spirit, demonstrated by her enduring support of family members over the years.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Seay; Sisters, Ethel Miller-Phillips, and Bertha Marsh-Smith; Brothers, Talcum Marsh Jr., Earl Marsh, and Alexander Marsh.
She is survived by Brothers, Samuel Marsh, George Marsh, John Marsh, and David Marsh; Sisters, Lela (Joyce) Marsh-Mixon, Betty Marsh-Williams; Stepchildren Nicole Seay and Sonya Seay and host of nieces and nephews.
Dorothy celebrated her last years as a resident at Charter Senior Living in Bay City, Michigan where she was loved and adored by everyone. The family would like to acknowledge Charter Senior Living for the unwavering support and care during her residency there.
