Elwood Henry was born October 26, 1959 in Saginaw, Michigan to Tommie Lee and Mary (Johnson) Henry. He transitioned to be with his heavenly father on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 60 years.
Elwood graduated from Buena Vista High School, “Class of 1977.” Upon completion of high school, he went to join the General Motors Corporation. Elwood’s career spanned four decades, where he worked in several different areas within the company, from vehicle assembly to powertrain and metal casting. He ultimately retired from Bay City Powertrain in 2015, completing his 40-year career.
Elwood served his country as part of the Army Reserves, where he completed the Tactical Wire Operations Specialist Course at Fort Gordon in Georgia in March of 1982. He later went on to become a graduate of the Fort Campbell NBC Officer / NCO school in April of 1984.
He was a true family man who loved to spend time with his loving wife and sons. Elwood loved going to sporting events and car shows. Everyone who met him enjoyed talking with him. He had a gigantic heart and would help anyone in need. A faithful husband, loving father, brother, proud grandfather and loyal friend is how Elwood will be forever remembered and cherished.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Lee and Mary Henry; brothers, Michael Henry, Billie Henry; grandson, Jaheiem Henry; father-in-law, Fredrick Sherman; brother-in-law, John Sherman Sr.
