Irma Lean Mitchell

Ms. Irma Lean Mitchell passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at Covenant HealthCare Harrison in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 82 years. She was born November 5, 1939, in Eudora, Arkansas, to Perry and Hattie Hammond.

Irma attended Lester Elementary and Lester High School in Memphis, Tennessee, before moving to Saginaw from Chicago, Illinois in 1975. She was a member of Greater Renaissance Baptist Church. Irma Lean was a retail sales associate for Sears and Roebuck, and was also employed at Perkins Cleaners. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, Bingo and Pokeno. Irma Lean was a loving and caring mom, always nurturing, loving, kindhearted, high-spirited, and strong. She loved learning new and different things to benefit herself, her children, and her family.

Ms. Irma Lean Mitchell leaves to cherish her memories four daughters,  Brenda Abner, Hattie Mitchell, Jacqueline(Charles) Riley, and Faith Mitchell; four sons, Albert Mitchell, Eddie (Catherine) Mitchell, Ernie (Shantae) Ahmad, and Tony Mitchell; twenty grandchildren, Sean (Perhson) Wilson, Irma, Arthur, Lamar, Rachel and Octavius Mitchell, Kelvin Mullins Jr., Spence, Eddie Jr., O’Shay and Tyesha Mitchell, E’Darius Ahmad, Sherika, Kyra Holston, Jovon, Faith, Toni, Chetoni, Detravion, and Tavion Mitchell; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; three nephews, LeVander Hill, Robert Gordon, and Charles Hollis; many aunts, cousins and friends too numerous to list.

Irma Lean Mitchell was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Mitchell; parents, Perry and Hattie Hammond; sisters, Edith Mae Hammond, and Estella Gordon; brother, Rayfield Hill; nephews, Billy Gordon and Sylvester Gordon.

The family expresses special thanks to those who took time to pray, call or text during our time of bereavement, and to Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
