Addie Jackson (Lansing)

Miss Addie Jackson was born July 31, 1963 to A.J., Sr. and Helen P. Jackson in Cleveland, Ohio. She passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. At the age of 57 years. Not long after Addie’s birth, the family relocated to Lansing, Michigan where she remained as a lifelong resident.

Addie received her formal education through the Lansing School District and attended Lansing Eastern High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and had been walking with the Lord ever since. Addie enjoyed cooking for her family, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy! Addie also loved and cherished her mother, whom she missed dearly. Addie was a proud single mother of three daughters and two sons she embraced to be her blended family. Addie also had a special bond with her sister Ardene, they were best friends.

Addie was employed at the United States Post Office for twelve years until she retired.

Addie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ashari Jackson (David), Helina Parker (Wendell), Ja’Nessa West (Sophia) all of Lansing, Michigan; two step-sons, John M. West (Leeann), Alan West (Tamikia) both of West Virginia; 13 granddaughters, Daishya, Armoni, Aryanna, Lamya, Tyann, A’Maya, Ary’el, A’nayah, Summer, Ray, Ja’Lynn, Ajania, Jiyah; ten grandsons, Ja’Lin, A’mire, Alvion, A’Dris, August, Malachi, Rajon, Mathias, Luejtion, Aizeck; Godkids, Sharika, Marcus Osbey, Jr.; siblings, Ardene Jackson, Rene Hester, Stephine Gwin, Anita Jackson, Candice Joy, Gary Jackson (Tanoi), A.J. Jackson (Casara), Grady Jackson (Shannon), Michael Jackson; one aunt, Sherly Dozer; one uncle, David Dozier, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael and John Pettegrew; uncles, Joe L., Edward Dozier, Elijah Jackson; grandmothers, Sally Trotter, Emma Mitchell; nieces, Ingrid Pettigrew, Tyree Tate, Latoy Tate; nephews, Anthony Benson, III, Michael Jackson; aunts, Joyce Dinsmore, Norma J. Dozier. Addie Jackson (her namesake) and Ruth M. Dozier, step-mother, Ruby Jackson.
