Adrain Tard Emmanuel Smith

April 16, 1974 — May 12, 2023

Adrain Tard Emmanuel Smith, a strong, courageous, compassionate, dependable, and resilient man was born on April 16, 1974 in Saginaw, Michigan to Todd and Priscilla Smith. He grew up in Saginaw and attended Saginaw High School, where he was a proud Trojan of the Class of 1992 and a graduate of the Class of 1993.

Adrain had a passion for family and wanted his children to fully enjoy life through traveling, family gatherings, vacations, and taking a long drive to simply enjoy the scenery and have long discussions about life. In his down time, you could find Adrain with family, shopping, cooking, and going to see a movie. He absolutely loved spending time with his “Sugarfoot”, as he affectionally called his wife Nikimo, and he was proud to share it with the world. He loved being a grandpa to his adorable grandchildren, Taylor and twins, Ava and Isaac. Adrain was a lifelong entrepreneur, a barber since the age of 13, and was a beloved pillar in his community. From Webber Middle to Saginaw High to Grandma’s house and finally Twins: Side-by-Side Barbershop, he grew to become not just a master barber, but also a mentor, devoted friend, and a servant to his community. He provided a listening ear, gave sound advice, and was always willing to share his testimony with others.

Adrain’s greatest hero and best friend is his twin brother Tard. In his own words he said, “he’s been holding my hand since the womb”. There is no love comparable to the love he shared with his twin brother. Tard and Adrain were the true definition of soul brothers, truly glued at the hip. They did life together and were inseparable. Their closeness was rooted in genetics and their bond was irreplaceable and unexplainable. The family is truly blessed and grateful that Adrain’s legacy will continue not only through his children, but through his brother who is an extension of himself.

Outside of work, Adrain was a loving husband to Nikimo Smith, and a devoted father to Ashton (Kaylie) McMillan, Precious Smith, Elliot Smith, and his bonus sons Jestin and Christian Davis. He leaves his love with his mother, Priscilla Smith, mother-in-law, Wynita McClaine, sisters; Venus Smith, Johnquetta Shelley, and Johnnetta Shelley, brother, Tard (Fontella) Smith, brother-in-law Marcus (Charneka) McClaine, nephews; Trinton Choyce and Jacob Shelley, nieces; Sydney Smith, Trinity Choyce, Journee Shelley, Shya and Mariah McClaine, aunts; Janie (Gregory) Smith-DeMyers, Emma Hawkins, uncle, Isaac (Ella) Smith. Godsister, Kayla West. Bonus sisters Tosha Parker and Rebbecca Davis; bonus mom Kay McMillan; Special cousins; MyKing Smith Sr., Teleo Laury, Dionysus Lowery, Annetta Brown and Sebastian Manley. He touched the lives of many and had special friends. To name a few but not limited to, Mark Bryant, Julian Taylor, Reverend Ronnie Bryant, Pastor Christopher V. Pryor, Dewhon Lyle, Mike Patrick, Charlie Haddad, Aaron Latimer, Ay’Ron Lewis, Stephen Hill, Johnnie Edwards, and many more.

Adrain Tard Emmanuel Smith passed away at age 49 on May 12, 2023. Adrain will be remembered for his great sense of humor, generosity and caring heart. Most of all, he was a man of God with strong faith. He overcame many obstacles and yet persevered through them all and continued to serve the LORD passionately.
