Albert Sr. Lewis

July 15, 1948 — October 8, 2015

Mr. Albert Lewis Sr. peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the age of 67 years. He was born July 15, 1948 in Hinds County, Mississippi to Luther Lewis and Clara Lee Bridges.
Albert was a 1967 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Upon graduation he served in the United States Armed Forces where he was a Vietnam veteran. He later joined Geraldine Jenkins Gerri in holy matrimony and from this union two children were born. Albert relocated his family from Vicksburg, Mississippi to Saginaw, Michigan where he resided for 41 years. He retired from General Motors Corporation after 35 years of service. Albert was a faithful member of Corinthian Baptist Church for many years under the leadership of Pastor Roy L. Manning where he sang in the Male Chorus. He was very fashion conscious and enjoyed living healthy. Albert and his wife adopted two of their grandchildren and raised one grand-daughter. His presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Angela Lewis and Albert Lewis Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Tavario, Angel and Atlena and Aleah Lewis all of Saginaw, Michigan, TAngelo Lewis-Miller and Jason Pinkston Jr. Lewis-Miller of Vicksburg, Mississippi; great-grandson, Aireyon Wright; mothers, Clara Lee Bridges-Miller, Earnestine Lewis and Evelyn King; eight sisters, Doris Jean Miller-Carter, Evelyn Smith, Clara (Billy) Walker, Deborah (Michael) Gardner and Sarah (Jeffery) Ross, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Monica Lewis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Maria Lewis of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Betty Frazier of Saginaw, Michigan; seven brothers, Curtis Miller, Tyrone (Angela) Miller, Kenneth (Syretta) Miller and Edward David (Trina) Miller, all of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Ricky and Richard Lewis both of Saginaw, Michigan and Luther Lewis Jr. of Washington, DC; eighteen nieces, Dichondra Faye Miller, Tonya Shaw, Kristen Smith, Challise Walker, LaKisha Moe, LaMeka, LaJessica and Savannah Miller, Jada, Jameel and Jasmin Ross, Celeste Miller, LaToya Pittman, Melanie Dotson, Delia and Diana Gonzales, TyKayla and TyNesha Wells; nine nephews, Johnathan Pittman, Joe and Korey Dykes, Paul Smith, Derrick Carter, Billy Walker Jr., Kenneth Tucker, Kentarrion and Deonte Miller; one uncle, Marshall (Tethal) Bridges; numerous cousins including a special cousin, Allen Harris; mother and father-in-law, James White Jenkins Sr. and Ella Mae Jenkins; six sisters-in-law, Velma (Homer) Jenkins Mosley of Swartz Creek, Michigan, Gloria Jenkins Maxey, Bernice Williams, Stephanie and Shannon Williams and Carolyn Buttles all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; six brothers-in-law, James W. Jenkins Jr. of Seattle, Washington, Chester Jenkins, Aaron and Michael Smith, Johnny and Isaac Williams all of Vicksburg, Mississippi; many other relatives and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Jenkins Lewis, father, Luther Lewis, grandparents, John and Everline King, stepfather, Alex Miller Sr., mother and father-in-law, James and Ella Jenkins, two brothers, Alex Jr. and Joseph Lee Miller, one stepbrother, Harry Miller, two uncles, Albert Mack and John King Jr., one aunt, Rosie Lee Grover and one sister-in-law, Cozetta Jenkins Smith.
The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Roy Manning and the Corinthian Baptist Church family, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel, Luther Manor Rehabilitation Care, and the Parker, Tanner and Jackson families.
