Mr. Alfonzie (Al) Smith
Celebrating the home going of Alfonzie (Al) Smith, who went home to be with Allah on June 6, 2009. Al was born on February 24, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan to Fannie Canada and Albert Smith. Al was a Saginaw High School Alumni and a proud veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his best friend and mother of his children, Dorothy Smith, two children, Erica Smith and Eric (Leah) Johnson; three grandchildren: Brandan Smith Carter, Eric Jr. and Ayanna Johnson; nine brothers and sister: Sylvia Vann, Everitt (Renee) Pipkins, Barbara (Roscoe) Pipkins, Paul (Debbie) Miller, JoAnn (Calvin) Chism, Eddie and Pamela Canada, Carla and Joyce Ann Smith. Several nieces, nephews and cousins, which include his very special nephew and namesake, Alfonzie Pipkins and close friend Larry Dottery. Al was predeceased by his parents and four brothers: Rufus and Robert Pipkins, Joseph and Shermen Morgan, and a very special aunt, Mary Ross.
