Alfred L. Blackwell

Mr. Alfred Lee Blackwell passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the age of 79 years. He was born on January 28, 1939 in West Memphis, Arkansas to Alvin and Hazel Blackwell.

Alfred was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He owned Al’s Car Wash on Genesee Street where they provided the best car wash/detailing of automobiles in the surrounding area. He enjoyed fishing and grilling for his family. Alfred was known for making homemade pound cakes. He will be missed by family and friends.

Mr. Blackwell leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Blackwell; five daughters, Sheila D. Blackwell, Lillian Guillory, Jacqueline (Jimmie) Bentley, Saginaw, Michigan, Wanda Blackwell, Lansing, Michigan, and Ebony Blackwell, Grand Rapids, Michigan; sixteen sons, Alfred Laneil Blackwell, Las Vegas, Nevada, Alvin (Bethany) Blackwell, Gaylord Blackwell, Cedrick Blackwell, Eddie Blackwell, Alton Blackwell, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jacques Blackwell, Tremaine Champion, Randy Blackwell, Saginaw, Michigan, Johnny Blackwell, Ronny (Teresa) Blackwell, McDonald, Georgia, Dealo Roberts, Florida, Nuke Young, Georgia, Josh Young, Mississippi, Clifford Blackwell, Chicago, Illinois, Brandon Witherspoon, Arizona, and Darrell Dotson, Colorado; two sisters, Betty Woods and Gloria Tate, Saginaw, Michigan; thirty-four grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Hazel Blackwell; two brothers, Johnny and David Blackwell; grandson, Jason Blackwell; granddaughter, Ashley Jackson.

The family would like to thank our friends for all expressions of sympathy during our bereavement; the staff at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper for the special care of our father; special thanks to Barbara Campbell, Doris Jackson, Elbert Eli, Verma Eli, Jimmie and Linda Alexander; Ivan E. Phillips and the staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel.

There will be a balloon release at Wickes Park immediately following the service.
