Alfrieda Glasscoe (Lansing)

Ms. Alfrieda Glasscoe passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Sparrow Health Systems – Sparrow Campus in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 74 with her five children at her side. She was born on March 11, 1948, in Lansing, Michigan to the late Arthur Lee and Inez (Lee) Glasscoe.  

Alfrieda attended Lansing J.W. Sexton High School and went on to work for Motor Wheel Corporation and Meijer Warehouse from where she retired. She was known for her feisty attitude, kindness, and humor. Alfrieda often called her children on the phone to recite “the joke of the day.” Her favorite hobbies were puzzles, reading and watching any movie that featured Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp or Ryan Reynolds.  Alfrieda loved to have family gatherings and gloat about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

She leaves to cherish her memory to her five children, Jeffery Scott (Felicia) Glasscoe, Jackita Antonette Glasscoe, Melonie Ann (Jerome) Houston, Teressa Ann (Isaac) Bowers, James Lamar (Melissa) Glasscoe;  siblings, Jacqueline Carter, Arthur (Toni) Glasscoe, Jr., Michael (Toni) Glasscoe, Clayton (Nancy) Glasscoe, Deborah Davis, Marcus (Rachel) Glasscoe, Marion Glasscoe, and Katherine Hardges; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Arthur L. Glasscoe, Sr. and Inez (Lee) Glasscoe; stepmother, Aldermease Glasscoe; sisters, Nellie Raines and   Brenda Glasscoe; brothers, Larry Glasscoe and Eddie Glasscoe.
