The Life and Legacy of Alldean Jackson
Mr. Alldean Jackson was born into a large and loving family on Thursday, August 18, 1927, in Mason, Michigan, the son of Oceola and Mamie Lucille Jackson. As the sixth of thirteen siblings growing up in a bustling household, he learned the value of unity, and the importance of family bonds. He shared a special bond with his baby sister Ms. Shirley Cook whom he took with him everywhere he went.
Alldean attended public schools in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from West Junior High School in 1939. After graduation, Alldean went to the United States Army where he served during the Korean War for four years and was honorably discharged. Shortly, after that Alldean met his beautiful wife, Katie Mae Nelson Jackson for whom he had profound love. This union withstood joy, hard times, bountiful blessings, sadness, and the most amazing and wonderful days for 66 years. Together Mr. and Mrs. Jackson raised eleven children and fostered many.
Alldean was a pillar of strength, a loving presence, and the heart of our family. He was a true community man, always willing to lend a hand and support those in need. His love for baseball, deer hunting, fishing, playing cards, telling jokes, sharing stories, and playing the numbers were just a few of his many passions, as he shared them with enthusiasm and joy.
However, what truly defined Alldean was his dedication to his family. How he poured his heart into cooking delicious meals for all of us. He was always so proud of everyone’s accomplishments and was there to cheer you on every step of the way. Alldean was also, everyone’s Grandfather AKA “Gran” offering sage advice, endless love, and a comforting smile to everyone he met.
Alldean was not only a loving devoted family man but also a godly soul. His faith was the guiding lights of his life. He lived by a strong moral compass and set an example of righteousness for us all.
Matthew 25:23: “His lord said unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into joy of thy lord.” Now it is time to take your well-deserved rest. On Saturday November 4, 2023, Alldean transitioned into the waiting arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of ninety-six.
His memory and legacy will be forever cherished and kept alive by his surviving children, Jessie Nelson, Louis Earl “Joe” Hall, Steven Lamar Hall, Gina (Sam) Jones, Monte Jackson, Brenda Kay (Lenardo) Battle, and David Jackson; 30 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren, 62 great-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren; sister, Ms. Shirley Cook; brothers, Leroy (Joyce) Jackson and Dr. Gilbert Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
