Almer C. Hoosier

January 22, 1943 — February 1, 2015

Ms. Almer C. Hoosier passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison. Age 72 years. She was born January 22, 1943 in Cornerstone, Arkansas to Rosie Scott and Jeff Turner.
Almer accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Johnnie Goodman until his demise. Almer later became of member of Zion Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John Rincher and Lighthouse of Glory Baptist Church. Both ministries welcomed her in. She was also a part of many fundraising auxiliaries. Almer was a retiree of the Saginaw Public School System. Her presence will be truly missed.
Almer leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Carla Pugh, Ebony Terrell and Barbara (Stanley) Mathious Underwood all of Griffin, Georgia; one son, Dwayne Hoosier Sr.; four stepchildren, Janice Jackson, Jeffery, Kenneth and Joe Jr. Hoosier; ten grandchildren, Deonte Davis, Naykima Hill, Alexis and DeJan Hoosier all of Michigan, Dwayne Hoosier Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Nayvon (Brittani) Hill of Indianapolis, Indiana, Amber and Haley Hoosier both of Waterford, Michigan, JoaCari Terrell and Thomas Bass both of Griffin, Georgia; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jeilen Hill, JeiVyn Hoosier, David Scott Jr. Gabriella, Caleb and Christian Hoosier, Darius, Danazanah and Dahlila Ingram, Dillion and Taya Davis, Daetrieone Cooper and Nayvon Hill Jr.; four sisters, Della Dawkins, Doris (William) Hawkins and Phelmarie Hawkins all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Bennie Drumgoole of Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, Jeff and Barry Turner both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Norma Abedella and Loretta Conerly both of Saginaw, Michigan; one brother-in-law, William (Sally) Hoosier; two god-daughters, Kimberly (Wendell) Williams of Locust Grove, Georgia and Deidra Beverly of Saginaw, Michigan; five god-sons, Minister Anthony Dent, Billy Erwin, Andre, William and Jamal Beverly all of Saginaw, Michigan. Almer will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her godsister and best friends, "Essie Carter", Susan Johnson, Doris Frazier, Josie Bady, Joyce "Bill" Sawyer, Marilyn Goodman and Rose Dixon.
Almer was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Hoosier Sr., parents, Rosie Scott and Jeff Turner, grandparents, Bud and Ella Hutson, two brothers, Emzie Hulett and EC Turner; three sisters, Charlean Holmes, Icelean Burch and Mary Bledson, one grandson, Corey Talley and a very dear friend, Reverend Buford Adkins.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Covenant Healthcare 6th floor ICU Unit, Bennie Drumgoole, Tangela Hunt, Valerie Emerson, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel and all those who have participated in the homegoing of our beloved Almer C. Hoosier.
