Mr. Alto Colvin (Al) departed this life Saturday, January 15, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Age 81 years. Alto was born July 27, 1929 in Union Springs, Alabama to Allen and Gertrude (Jelks) Colvin.
He married Bertha Pershay in 1973, she preceded him in death. Al retired from Chevrolet Metal Casting after many years of service and was a member of Local Union 668.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Tony (Ronda) Colvin-Baraka; daughter, Paulette (Curtis) Colvin-Murray all of Marrietta, GA; step-daughter, Vernetta F. Pershay, Saginaw, MI; granddaughter, Toni Imanni Baraka; grandson, Koran Riley-Colvin- Baraka,
step-granddaughter, Ronette (Anthony) Calvert; two great-grandsons, Anthony Pershay, Corey Nisbett II, Saginaw, MI; sister, Betty Colvin, Queens, NY; two brothers, Robert (Deloris) Colvin, Alonza Jim (Charlene) Colvin, Saginaw, MI; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Jackson, Odessa Glover; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a very special friend, Betty R. Woods. The family would like to express a special thanks to Tendercare Nursing Home staff and Heartland Hospice staff.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Pershay; sisters, Alma Parker, Peggy Crenshaw, Ann M. Pierre; three brothers, Coleman, Will Tom, Arbennie Colvin; four
step-children, Donald, Larry, Harvey Pershay and Linda Broxton.
