Alvester Norman "Slick"

June 1, 1960 — February 16, 2018

Mr. Alvester Norman, affectionately known as “Slick,” passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 57 years. He was born on June 1, 1960 in Wisner, Louisiana to Mose Richard and Bernice Norman.

Alvester attended Wisner High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration from Mississippi Valley State University. Alvester served in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge upon completion of his military service. He was employed by Means Industries, Inc. in Saginaw, retiring after fifteen years of service. He was also employed by Saginaw Public Schools as a teacher at Saginaw High School. Alvester will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, LaShonda Rakins; two stepchildren, Ciera and Chaleea West; grandchildren, Marcell, Marvell and Cha’Mai McClain, Cireone and Micheal Atkins; his parents, Bernice Norman and Mose Richard; two sisters, Linda Williams and Mary Ann (Joseph) Coleman; eight brothers, Allen Ray Heckard, Vernon Norman, his twin, Sylvester Norman, Dr. Jean-Claude (Melore) Norman, Ph.D., Cornelius (Vonita) Norman, Leodis Norman, Jonathan Blackson and Cederick Hunt; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends; special friends, Earl Trouse and Kossie McCaskey; special cousin, Terrance “Teddy” Tolliver.

Alvester was preceded in death by one brother, James Norman.

The family extends special thanks to Alvester’s former wife, Peggy Perkins.
