Andrew Haynie

December 23, 1957 — March 12, 2022

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under Heaven….

Mr. Andrew Haynie departed this season of life on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the age of 64 years. He was born December 23, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan, son of the late Henry and Reacie Mae Haynie.


Andrew accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Buena Vista High School and one of the great basketball legends for the Knights. Andrew retired from Michigan Sugar in May, 2020. He enjoyed scratch-off tickets and playing the lottery, cruising and listening to the Blues and spending time with his grandboys.


He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Shalanda LaVonne Ellison, two grandsons, Israel Ja’Cire and Jordan Na’Cire Smith; brother, Kennedy Haynie; sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Haynie; nephew, Greg Haynie II, all of Saginaw; niece and great-nephew, Simyra Haynie and Christian VanHorn of Dearborn, Michigan; two loving aunts, Earlean Shepard, Saginaw, Michigan, and Florence Buckley, Rockford, Illinois; a host of special cousins and friends including Marlene and Valarie Shepard, Dyanna English, Leon and Larry Mixon, Willie and Jennifer Miller, Keith Johnson, Lois Fricks, Bo Gibson, Mark Howard,Kevin Martin, and Philip Taylor.


Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Anthony and Gregory, and his grandparents, Ezra and Everlee Smith.


The family wishes to thank Teresa Martin, Yvonne Cabine the staff of Davita Saginaw Dialysis and ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (Bay City).
