Andrew Mccullem (Lansing)

Mr. Andrew G. Franklin McCullem passed away February 18, 2022, at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 65 years. Andrew was born January 21, 1957, in Lansing, Michigan to parents, Alberta and Robert McCullem, Sr.  

Andrew lived in North Lansing all his life. He attended Eastern Highschool where he was one of the best on the wrestling team and the fastest on the football team.

In Andrew’s early adult life, he landed a position in the General Motors Fisher Body Factory where he worked for many years. When not working Andrew attended many passions and hobbies, but his love for fishing and cycling was undeniable.

In 1992, his daughter “Baby Girl”, Kwashena Sams was born; Andrew said her birth was his greatest accomplishment.

Andrew attended church throughout the years and was a firm believer of “walk by faith not by sight” and was known for his famous line “God Bless”.

He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Carla Sams McCullem of Detroit, Michigan; daughter, Kwashena Sams of Las Vegas, Nevada; stepchildren, Dwataye Sams and DuJuan Sams; 13 step-grandchildren; mother, Alberta McCullem; sister, Minnie McCullem; brother, Robert McCullem; nieces, Antoinette Jones, Ranecia McCullem; Charina McCullem, and Brittney Sellers; nephews, Anthony McCullem, Matthew McCullem, Alphonso Ross, Joe Ross, and Tommy Green; 8 great nephews; aunts, Ethel Young and Daisy Mullins; uncles, Clarence (Paulette) Mullins and Ricky (Ann) Neal; cousins, Vernadine, Walter Jr., Martha Mae, Christine, and Wayne; mother and father-in-law, Fannie and Willie Sams; sisters-in-laws; Caprice Sams and Nedar Sams; and many other relatives and friends.

Andrew was preceded in death by his father, Robert McCullem, Sr.; sister, Mary Ann McCullem; brother Samuel McCullem; grandparents, Andrew Freeman and Daisy Mullins; aunt, Mary Smith; cousin, Ann Risper; and brother-in-law, Bennie Sams.
