Angela Vaughn

July 1, 1964 — February 1, 2021

Mrs. Angela Vaughn peacefully departed this life on February 1, 2021 at University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan while her loving children stood bedside. She was born July 1, 1964 to Henry James and Mamie Lou Kidd in Saginaw, Michigan, where they made their forever home.

Angela, called “Angie”, received her education between Mississippi and Saginaw Public Schools, and received her GED through the O.I.C GED Program. She then furthered her education at Ross Medical School, becoming a certified Medical Assistant. Soon after, she was employed at

Angie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age. As a child, she loved to travel with her parents throughout the United States, especially to Mississippi where she enjoyed visiting with her Grandmother, the late Lou Ann Langham-Jones and many other family members.

Angie then enjoyed being a full-time mom to her five children and later becoming a caring grandmother to her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved. She also enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards and creating new food dishes like her infamous pineapple rice. Besides her own five children, she was not only an auntie but a second mom to her nephews Kwasi, Dominque, Demetric and DeVante, who will truly miss her. Last but not least, Angie was her mother’s right and left hand and later became her mother’s best friend. They loved gardening and joy riding together.

Angela leaves to cherish her beloved memories her mother Mamie Lou Kidd; daughters, LaToya (Charles) Moxley Kidd, Glory Kidd, Mycal (Jory) Kidd, Louvonia (Charles III); son, Willie (Christal) Kidd; fifteen grandchildren; aunts, Louvenia (Roosevelt) Pickett, Detroit, Michigan, Rose Mary Horrison, Birmingham, Alabama; sister-in-love, Mary Patman, Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother-in- love, Clifton Griffin, Saginaw, Michigan; goddaughter, Jasmine Williams, Saginaw, Michigan; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends, including estranged husband Richard Vaughn and beloved stepchildren including special stepdaughter, Tamara Robinson, a host of neighborhood kids who affectionally called her Mama, and special friends Michael Shorter, Thomas Collins, Regina Nelson, Linda Coleman and Darvetta Jackson.

Angie was preceded in death by her son, Steve Lamar Kidd and stepson Richard “Sport” Vaughn, Jr.; father, Henry James Kidd; brother, Robert Earl Kidd; sister, Gloria Kidd.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff and nurses at University of Michigan Hospital Floor 8D in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Angie’s nephew Adonis Washington and everyone for their kind expressions of love and concern during this time. A more personal thank you will be given later.
