Angela Young

August 21, 1979 — April 9, 2012

On August 21, 1979 in South Haven, MI Keith and Carolyn Rhodes Young were blessed with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl. She was their first child and given the name Angela Elizabeth Marie Young. Reared in a Christian home, Angela attended Revival Church of God in Christ in Compton, CA. As an adult she was a member of Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ located in Pomona, CA under the leadership of Dr. Terence Rhone. Affectionately known as Angie, she attended Artesia High School, which is a part of the ABC Unified School District. She used her extracurricular time playing basketball on the varsity team and singing in the school choir. After graduating from Artesia High School in 1998 she attended Rio Hondo College. Later, Angies sense of adventure led her to sign up for the California Conservation Corps, where she studied for two years. After her stint with the Corps, Angie was employed at Kaiser Permanente until her health began to fail. At this time a large and loving family is left to cherish Angies memory. Amongst those left to keep her memory alive are her dear son Keith Charles Young, parents Keith and Carolyn Young of Santa Fe Springs, CA, and two sisters: Keisha Ann Young of San Bernardino, CA and Clarissa Jessica Young of Santa Fe Springs, CA. Her grandparents are Early and Azalee Hughes of Saginaw, MI and Georgia Cunningham of South Haven, MI. Angie also leaves behind nine aunts and uncles: Alice Hughes of Columbia, MD, Janice Hughes of Katy, TX, Ann (Thomas) Mayfield of Houston, TX, Elder John Rhodes of Saginaw, MI, Early Hughes of Vallejo, CA, Telsma (Quilla) Sallis, Joseph (Epi) Sallis and William Gamble all residing in South Haven, MI and Shelby (Tameka) Gamble of Gary, IN. Lastly, God-grandparents Bishop Fred and Mother Statha Lewis of Flint, MI, god sister, Trevina Shearer of Knoxville, TN, special friend Kevin Osgood of Reno, NV, many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends will mourn the loss of such a wonderful young woman. She was preceded in death by her uncles Allen Rhodes, Jr., Douglas Rhodes and Morris Sallis. Lifes work is done, Lifes race is run, and now she rests.
