Our Legacy

Ms. Angelia Anthony went from labor to reward on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at University of Michigan Health – Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan. Age 55 years. She was born on Friday, August 15, 1969, in Choctaw, Alabama, to Clemmitteen Covington and James Anthony.

Angelia later moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1975 with her mother, seeking a life filled with greater opportunities. She attended Lansing Eastern High School and after graduation, she pursued a career in healthcare, dedicating over 30 years of her life to providing exceptional care and service. Throughout her career, she received numerous certificates, awards, and accolades in recognition of her outstanding work, commitment, and compassion in the medical field.

Angelia's love for her son, Delkisse, who had special physical care needs, led to her wanting to start a support group with individuals who had like matters such as her son, which later led to her becoming the founder of "Stop Child Abuse," which is a licensed organization focused on raising awareness and working to stop child abuse. Her dedication to both her family and community was unmatched.

Angelia was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Prophet Paul W. Garrett. Afterward, she became a member of All Nations Christian Church in Lansing and, later, Mind, Body, and Soul Ministries Outreach Center under the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel Thomas. During her membership at Mind, Body, and Soul, she served as an usher, certified deaconess, choir member, praise team member, and worked tirelessly organizing the Knights of Valor in which she was passionate about and truly enjoyed. She also devoted herself as an armor-bearer to the Pastor and his wife. Angelia's faith and devotion were integral parts of her life, as she remained a devout believer and servant of God.

Angelia was a family-oriented woman with a heart of gold. She was the glue that held her family together, always ready to lend a helping hand, offering love, guidance, and support. She helped raise her youngest brother, Quan, and was always there for her loved ones, especially in times of need. Angelia's generosity knew no bounds, as she would often open her home to those in need, ensuring that everyone felt loved and welcomed. Known for her unique personality, Angelia was a true one-of-a-kind soul. She had an infectious laugh, and a smile that would light up any room. She cherished her grandchildren with her whole heart and took great joy in spending time with them. Angelia was also known for her love of shopping, bowling, and being a member of her church's bowling league. As a self-proclaimed fashionista, she always took pride in looking her best.

Angelia will be cherished and remembered forever, and her legacy of love, generosity and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Angelia leaves behind her beloved children, Zikera Shonta Anthony of Lansing, Michigan, Nakeda Renee Johnson “Nuke” of Holt, Michigan, and Delkisse Anthony of Lansing, Michigan; cherished grandchildren: Te'Ashia Smith, Tayvon Butler, Delkilyae Johnson, Na'Keliya Johnson, Hezeki Anthony, Za'Kiah Williams, and Zy'Anna Glynn, all of Lansing, Michigan as well as her great-grandchildren, Da'Karre Scott and Dior Scott; loving siblings, Aretha Anthony and Mattie Anthony, both of Alabama, William Anthony “Drupps” and Andrel "Quan" (Vicky) Anthony, both of Lansing, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, aunt, Patsy Ann Anthony and other extended family members she shared a special bond with including her great uncles, Frank (Mona) Bush, Benjamin Bush, and Thomas Bush; aunt, Barnnett Bush “Aunt Bun”; goddaughters, Loren Oliver and Goddess Jenkins and godson, TraeQuan Proffit.
