Annette Pullen (Houston) quietly left this life and transitioned into her eternal life with Christ on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 3:27 p.m., in Lansing, Michigan with her family by her side. Age 65 years old. She will be missed greatly. She was born Monday, April 27, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan to Louis and Clara Houston. Annette was the youngest of seven children.
Annette accepted Christ at Galilee Baptist Church at an early age and was a member for many years and later became a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Recently, she joined Friendship House of Prayer Baptist Church and proudly shared her Certificate of Church Membership with her family.
Annette grew up in Lansing where she attended J.W. Sexton High School and graduated in 1977. She began working for the State of Michigan after high school where she worked for over ten years. After leaving State government, Annette began her career in the medical field as an administrative assistant in various locations before retiring with over 20 years of service.
Annette was passionate about cooking. She didn't know how to cook a small meal; she always prepared meals as though she was cooking for an army. She was always blessing others with her meals. Annette was also the family events coordinator. Always thinking of reasons to get family and friends together to eat, have fun and enjoy each other.
Annette married Lloyd Welch and was blessed with one daughter, Kamari Welch. She later married Terry Pullen and was married for over 20 years until he passed away in 2020. Annette loved her family. She was supportive and loved celebrating all special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, graduations, sporting events and frequently attended events to hear family perform musically.
Annette loved the Lord. She had a kind, loving, and giving spirit. She was the epitome of benevolence by giving to strangers and friends alike. She was always willing to help out and volunteer her time.
Annette was also known to speak her mind in love and there was never a doubt about where she stood on a matter.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kamari Welch, granddaughter, Imaiya Williams-Welch; sister, Robin Houston; two brothers, Arron L. (Alexis) Houston and Louis (Rose) Houston, Jr.; seven nieces, Crystal (KC) Pugh (Los Angeles, CA), Dionna Houston, Janielle Houston, Nicketa Simpson (Nashville, TN), Nikesha Houston (Nashville, TN), Nikki Castleberry, Karina Houston (Nashville, TN) and Tiffany Jefferson; five nephews, Arron Davis, Eriq Bennett, Javon Castleberry (Novi, MI), Lemuel Houston (Charlotte, NC), Willie (Starice) Houston; twenty-eight great-nieces and nephews, and seven great-great nieces and nephews; cousins, Barbara Howell (Calumet City, IL), Karen and Karla Addison (Calumet City, IL), Julian Houston (Phoenix, AZ), Dorothy (Johnnie) Doss, Jimmy (Anita) Wilson, Sr., Jimmy Wilson, Jr., Tanisha Wilson, Denise King, James Jones; extended families, the Joneses, the Ellis’, the McClendons and the Trices; and four very special friends, Adova Pittman-Bridges, Gloria Jones, Valerie Martin, and Lynn Turner.
Annette was preceded in death by her husband Terry Pullen; parents, Louis and Clara Houston; three siblings, sister, Bettie Taylor, and brothers, John Houston and Robert Houston.
