Annette Taylor (Lansing)

June 25, 1939 — January 1, 2022

Mrs. Annette Ilene (Gray) Taylor departed this life surrounded by love, on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the age of 82 years old. Annette was born in Lansing, Michigan to Richard and Millicent Gray as the first daughter to enter the Gray clan of all boys.

Annette remained in Lansing, attending Lansing schools. She graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. She also earned an associate degree from Lansing Community College. While attending high school she was employed with Lansing General Hospital, this continued even after her graduation. Later, she was employed by Ma Bell and eventually employed by Consumers Energy where she retired in 2004. She was a proud member of the premier Lansing Women’s Group, the VIPs. Annette was the social butterfly of the family. She was about beauty and style and if you knew her then you knew she loved to shop. Annette was the “original fashionista” and was heavily into fashion, style, and beauty. She always had a beauty tip for the young ladies in her life. Annette enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, golfing occasionally, and traveling. But her most favorite pastime of all was shopping. Annette was loving, caring, and loved to laugh. She would say different things to make you smile and was always willing to listen to anyone who wanted to talk.

Annette faced her battle with the ugly disease Dementia with sophistication and grace. Many things changed with this disease, but she never lost her fashion edge or sense of humor. Annette will always be remembered as one jazzy lady. She will be missed dearly but she is free to be Annette once again.

Annette is survived by her loving daughter, Laurie Taylor, and “her best grandchild” Jalah Brown; siblings, sisters Carol Alexander, Cherie Watson, Margo Oliver of Lansing, Michigan; and brothers, Coy Gray, Jack Gray, Richard Gray of Chicago, Illinois; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Richard L. Gray and Millicent M. Gray; brothers, Robert Gray, James Gray, William Gray, and Ronald Gray.
