Annie Louise Phillips (Lansing)

Mrs. Annie Louise Phillips was born on Monday, August 31, 1931, in Franklin County Tennessee, to the late Leler Elise Wells and Johnnie Jones. She departed this life on Thursday, August 31, 2023, her 92nd birthday, at Serene Gardens in DeWitt, Michigan.


Annie left the south in pursuit of something better for her family and landed in Lansing, Michigan. She began working as a domestic for a prominent family. She always took pride in her work and service to others.


She later began working at General Motors. She retired from General Motors after over 30 years of service.


She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and continued to be active in her church community. She was a dutiful member of Shiloah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Climmie Hughes. As part of her service she was a Board Trustee, Treasurer, and member of the choir.


Annie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Pearlie Geiger of Lansing, Michigan and Johnny (Delores) Phillips of Lindale, Texas; one sister Susia Forbush of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Tia (Miguel) Cunningham, Snellville, Georgia, Trina Austin-Morrison of Lansing, Michigan, and Brinn Phillips of Detroit, Michigan; nine great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Leler Booker; aunt, Annie L. Watkins, two brothers, Homer Jones and John Taliaferro; granddaughter, Theresa Denise Simmons and grandson, Terrence R. Simmons.
