Mr. Anthony Lewis Hall passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Regency of Lansing West in Delta Township, Michigan, at the age of 67 years old. He was born Tuesday, August 7, 1956, to Bobbie L. Taylor and William Hall in Lansing, Michigan. Anthony, also known as “Tony,” grew up on the west side of Lansing and was the apple of his parents’ and grandparents’ eye.
Early on he discovered that sports were his passion. Encouraged by his parents, Tony excelled in baseball and football. His love of sports also allowed him to participate in track and field, hockey and basketball. Tony was also an avid chess player. After graduating from Sexton High School, he received a scholarship to Central Michigan University. After a shoulder injury playing football in his freshman year of college, Tony realized college was not his goal in life. He worked various jobs until he landed a position with General Motors Corporation in Lansing in 1977.
Then at the age of twenty-four he decided he wanted to see the world and keep his career, so he enlisted in the United States Army. His gifts with maps and science landed him a position with the Engineering Corp designing schematics for electronic interiors. However, Tony being Tony felt this was far too sedentary a position to be locked in an office all day. So, he applied to the Special Forces to become a Scout. After that he decided to leave the military in 1980 and went back to work for General Motors Corporation. Once again, he felt led to return to the United States Army. In true Tony Hall fashion, he reenlisted in 1989. He received a Bronze Star, and a National Defense Service Medal, as well as an expert marksmen accommodation to name a few of his military achievements. He retired from the military after serving in the Gulf War Desert Storm. After retiring from General Motors Corporation, he decided to become a home inspector and security armed professional. In his free time, he coached and officiated football, baseball and chess games.
Tony was a devoted father whose greatest accomplishment was his love for his children. He shared his life with his wife, Perla Tan Hall of Cebu City, Philippines and was blessed with six children; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Tony remained close to his large and extended family and found joy in all of you.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Perla; daughters, Lakeisha Harris, Shantae Simmons, and Toni (Paul) Curtis; and sons, Martino “Marty” Lee and Eric (Mary) Lee; siblings, Sheilah Taylor-Martin, Antonette Martin, Vonda Watts, and Bonita Hall; brothers, Christopher Hall and James “Scooper” Martin; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins as well as very special friends. He will be missed by them all.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jayvance Hall; Parents, Bobbie (Roy) Martin and William Hall, Jr.; grandparents, William Sr. and Belinda Hall and Theodore and Martha Williams, brother, Roy Martin, Jr.; and sister, Patricia Martin.
