Anthony "Tony" Ronald Peterson

July 6, 1953 — December 6, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Anthony Ronald Peterson, fondly known as Tony, who was called home by the Lord to join the heavenly band on December 6, 2023. Born on July 6, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to Lorenzo Peterson and Geraldine (Kennedy) Peterson, Tony's remarkable journey through life was marked by faith, and an unwavering commitment to family.

Tony faced the challenges of desegregation head-on, being among the first black children bused to White Elementary School in Detroit. His early experiences instilled in him a remarkable resilience that would define his character throughout his life. The Peterson family later relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, where Tony thrived as the drum major for Buena Vista High School Marching Band and a trumpeter in the Honsinger Conservatory of Music Concert Band. Following his graduation from Buena Vista High School, Tony followed in his father's footsteps, dedicating himself to a diligent career as a foundry employee at General Motors.

A devoted member of the Bethel A.M.E Church, Tony remained steadfast in his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ throughout his life. Proudly calling Saginaw his home, he took a leadership role in the Sophisticated Gents men's private society alongside his brother "Sir Charles" Peterson, Charles Patrick, and Steven Landrum. Tony also channeled his entrepreneurial spirit as a co-owner of Chateau D'Elegance for many years.

An avid Detroit Lions fan, Tony recently embraced a "snowbird" lifestyle, migrating to Las Vegas to bask in warm weather, entertainment, and cherished moments with loved ones. His legacy of love and strength will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Tony is survived by his mother, Geraldine Peterson, of Saginaw, Michigan, and his older brother, Charles Peterson, residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is preceded in death by his father, Lorenzo Peterson, and sister, Renee Peterson.

Tony's devotion to family, especially his children Sean Peterson and Tiffany Peterson Felder (Thomas), was unparalleled. He leaves behind thirteen grandchildren - Kendel Liggins, Keatan Liggins, Keonu Berry, Tristan Peterson, Akim Warren, Lyric Peterson, Kaleb Siler, Kimani Peterson-Winston, Jacqueline Anderson, Jasmine DeLeon, Joseph Calderon, Thomas A. Felder, Jaden Felder - and six great-grandchildren, Zaire Brown, Kaden Anderson, Ethan Anderson, Sophia DeLeon, Lucca Calderon, and Ace Sapp. Each of them will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.

In addition to his immediate family, Tony is survived by Lola Peterson, bonus daughter Tiffany L. Peterson, and numerous other cherished family members and friends.

To honor Tony's memory and support aspiring students, the family kindly requests contributions to the Anthony Peterson Scholarship Fund, dedicated to those pursuing trade school or alternative learning opportunities.

May Tony's soul find eternal peace in the arms of the Lord. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
