Archie Phillip Scates, Iii (Lansing)

April 9, 1986 — August 3, 2015

Archie Phillip Scates III, (aka) Arch Deluxe beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, fiance and friend was born April 9, 1986 to Carla Elaine Leek Smith and Archie Phillip Scates Jr. He departed this life suddenly and entered into the arms of our Heavenly Father on August 3, 2015 at the young age of 29 years.
Archie was an adventurer who loved to travel and take trips. His mothers dream was to go to New York but she never had the opportunity. He loved his mother so much that after she passed, Archie went to New York twice and he dedicated each trip in loving memory of his mother. Archie gave his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Lansing Church of God in Christ. He was a high school graduate and he worked for the Lansing State Journal and as a local bounty hunter. Archie's favorite pastimes were playing video games, poker and basketball with his sons. He loved to sit and cuddle with his daughter, Amya, whom he called "bubby". He loved and adored her. Archie loved spending time with his children. Their favorite place to go was the local zoo. He was a movie fanatic and he loved going to the movies and watching movies at home with his family. He loved family time. Archies role model was LeBron James, someone he looked up to and wanted to be like. His favorite basketball team was the Miami Heat. Archie was never selfish but was always helping anyone he could. He was a realist and a very loyal son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Archie loved his family unconditionally. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Archie leaves to cherish his memory, his fiance, Ashley Roper; two sons, Archie Phillip Scates IV, Alvaunte Jermaine Scates; daughter; Amya Gabriella Scates, father, Archie Phillip Scates Jr; stepmother, Lenna Wilson; grandparents, Charles N. and Emogene (Kinnebrew) Leek, and Archie Scates Sr.; four sisters, Shalaya (Derrick) Pryor, Jessica Scates, Miranda Benton, Aunica Scates; two brothers, Dapreesch (Shontae) Scates, Phillip (Anna) Scates; seven nieces, Carlesha Scates, Shapreesch Scates, Shamyah Scates, Jasmine Scates, Aubrey Benton, Ava Benton, Chloe Scates; three nephews, Jordan Benton, David Scates, and Carter Scates; six aunts, Vitoria Kline, Tanya Lewis, LaTina (Daryl) McCausey, Lisa (Gerald) Potter, and Brenda Thurman; seven uncles, Harold (Kathy) Leek, Ronald Leek, Leonard C.
