Our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 to live with her heavenly Father. Ashantai Nicole Finch was born July 5, 1979 in Saginaw, Michigan to Debra (Pershay) and Clyde Finch.
She was a Saginaw High School graduate, achieving her diploma in 1998 before going on to pursue a career in nursing. She then strived for and attained her certification as a medical assistant, eventually serving as a medical receptionist at the Park Nicolett Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Those of us blessed to have known her would say that Ashantai truly loved life. She loved to laugh and had a gift for helping others see what was good or funny even in the roughest of times. Ashantai loved to sing and write poetry. She had her own bold and unique fashion sense and some truly amazing abilities in hairstyling. She was creative, enterprising and loved children. These are just a few of the many ways we will remember her. This is just one small attempt at expressing just how much Ashantai touched the lives of those around her. For these and much more she will be loved and cherished. Ashantai will live in our hearts and minds forever.
Ashantai leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Debra and Clyde Finch; step-father, Robert Murray; step-mother, Stephanie Perkins; four sisters, LaShonda Finch and Shawtina Finch, Tanesha (Silas) Clayton, Shericka Warren, Taswanna Rutherford; two brothers, Derronnie and Chouncey Finch; three nieces, Keira Clayton, Winter Coates, Jasya Coats; five aunts, JoAnn and Loretta Pershay, RuthAnn Garner, Patricia Tinsley, Carolyn (Anthony) Redeemer; three great-aunts, Cassie Wilson, Lucille Rogers, Lillie (Sena) Nelson;
special cousins; Shaneka, Shawanna, Sheena, Shaena, Diamond and Rolando Pershay, Tefferra (Bowie) Atkinson, Britney and Anthony Roberson, Tish Tinsley, Tammy Jordan, Del Finch, Leslie, Alicia, Eugene and Ebony Garner, Lakiesha Donahoe; many other relatives and friends including special friends. Tiffany Graham, Latanya Mitchell, Nekiedra Green, Saran Manning, Alicia Carter, Robbie Nash, Kelis Houston, Latrece Clemons, Wanda Curry, Alysha Faircloth.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; two uncles, Arnold Pershay, Raymond Pershay.
