Our beloved Matriarch, Mrs. B. Ella Jenkins, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Avista Nursing Home after 89 blessed years. She was born May 20, 1930 in Shaw, Mississippi to Paul W. and Mary Williams.
Mrs. Jenkins married the love of her life, Floyd Jenkins, in 1954. The couple moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1966. To this blessed union, twelve children were born. Floyd and B. Ella shared 59 wonderful years together until the Lord called him home.
Mrs. Jenkins was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Deaconess and an Usher. She worked seasonally at the Saginaw Soup Kitchen and Vlasic Pickle Factory. She enjoyed planting flowers around her home, gardening, cooking for her family, listening to gospel music, watching soap operas and talking on the telephone to family and friends.
Awaiting her arrival in heaven are her husband, Floyd Jenkins; daughter, Geraldine Jenkins; parents, Paul W. and Mary Williams; three grandchildren; three sisters; four brothers; father and mother-in-law, William and Lucy Jenkins; eight sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; one son-in-law, Asa Burns;
She leaves to cherish her memory seven daughters, Dorann Jenkins, Mary (Willie) Trammell, Gloria Jenkins, Patricia Burns, Emma (Larry) Taylor, Lorraine Jenkins, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Melissa (Jeffrey) Harris, Danville, Illinois; four sons, Floyd Jr., Dennis Jenkins, Saginaw, Michigan, John Jenkins, Rantoul, Illinois, Earnest (Debbie) Jenkins, Danville, Illinois; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Annie Oliver, Haiti, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Yvine Williams, Doris Harris; one brother-in-law, Miller Adams; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express special thanks to Avista Nursing Home, Covenant Healthcare, Samaritas, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
