Barbara Mathis

Barbara Ann Mathis passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 68 years. She was born November 21, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida to Samuel and Elizabeth Mathis.
Barbara was an Early Education teacher for the Duval County School system in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University, Bachelor of Arts from Saginaw Valley State University and Associate of Arts from Delta College. Barbara was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Saginaw. She was loved by many and she will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Joan E. Moore, Jacksonville, Florida, Margaret (Christopher) Burgmon, Houston, Texas; two nieces, Ciceley Padgett, Baltimore, Maryland, Joselynn Padgett, Newport, Rhode Island; four nephews, Benjamin O. Padgett, Newport , Rhode Island, Derrick Perry, Seattle, Washington, Christopher Burgmon, Houston, Texas, Marcellus Watson Jr., Baltimore, Maryland; one aunt, Penny Barnes Wilson, North Carolina; cousins, Nancy Evans, Willie Barnes, Jacksonville, Florida; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Mr. and Mrs. William Haller, Lynn Meanes, Rose Cecil, Versie Jumper and Lloyd Tinsley.
The family would like to express special thanks to her friends and neighbors.
Barbara will be returned to her native home of Jacksonville, Florida.
