Mr. Baron Lee Collins Sr, age 75, of Saginaw, Michigan, completed his earthy assignment and entered into eternal rest surrounded by family on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare Cooper after a Lengthy illness.
Baron, affectionately known by many as “CC” was born on October 27, 1949, in Jasper, Alabama, the son of Willie Collins Jr. and Iodene McDole. Upon graduation from Walker County Training School “Go Golden Tigers.” He was the starting quarterback and a basketball player; they called him “The Man with the Golden Arm;” he was just that good. Baron’s hobby was sports which was his favorite pastime. He attended Miles College for two years and enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 27, 1969. After receiving an Honorable Discharge upon completion of his military service, Baron traveled North to Saginaw to get a job. He was employed at General Motors (Chevrolet Gray Iron Foundry) and was affiliated with UAW Local 668. He loved his job and retired in 2011 after many years of service. Baron never wavered in his faith and love for the Lord and His people. He was a member of Developing Victorious Disciples In Ministry Church for over 30 years. He loved his Pastor and attended church regularly; a faithful servant, a Sunday School Teacher for the adults, and a choir member. Baron’s favorite song which he loved to sing was Cooling Water by The Williams Brothers. At times you would find him sitting right next to his wife and kids in the choir. He was an usher and a good cook. Bro Collins would make some mean ribs and Seven Layer Salad. If his family weren’t ready for church when he was ready, he would leave them right at home. When his illness took him away from church, the family would have church at home and sing songs. His wife, Bessie, A&D Home Health Care and Ras Marselis took excellent care of him. The doctors would ask who took care of Baron because he was well-kept.
Baron will be sorely missed, and his memory will always be cherished.
