Beatrice Giles passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison. Age 90 years. She was born August 16, 1923 in Jones County (Laurell), Mississippi to Elijah and Julia Jenkins.
Beatrice and her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois when she was six years old. She was educated in the Chicago Board of Education System. Beatrice attended Willard Elementary School, DuSable High School and Jones Commercial Business College. In her teen years, Beatrice attended and praised God in song at Zion Temple Baptist Church where she was later baptized. Later in life she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Fred Giles. Together they shared a joyful and active life in Dowagiac, Michigan.
She has left to mourn her memory one daughter, Evangelist Joselle; one sister, Consuelo Snell of Moreno Valley, California; six grandchildren, Joseph Taylor, Keturah Taylor, Khalif Muhammad, Eliyah (Cherie) Muhammad, John Muhammad and Gabrielle Jones; great-grandchildren, Keturah Porter, Mara Lebron, Aliyah Lebron, Robert Culpepper III, Imani Muhammad, Khalif Muhammad Jr. and Kali Muhammad; one great-great-grandchild, Demi Randle; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends including her close and special friends, Annie Lewis, Attorney Burke, Anne Webb and Roosevelt Jones.
