Beau Scott (Lansing)

September 7, 1970 — April 21, 2021

Mr. Beau Scott passed away on April 21, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 50 years. He was born at 2:37 p.m. on September 7, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Calvin Scott and Marcella Scott. He was the second born out of four sons to this union. As a young man, he accepted Christ under the pastorage of Pastors P.L. and the late Patricia Pearson of New Creation Christian Center (NC3) in Detroit, Michigan. One of the members there recently stated that Beau was “a soldier that fought a good fight. An NC3/CYF (Christian Youth Fellowship) enthusiast, and he will be greatly missed.” Beau was an accomplished drummer and played for the NC3 Gospel Choir every Sunday and for their yearly concerts held at Wayne County Community College (WCCC).

Beau attended the Detroit Public School System, graduating from Cody High School in 1988. Later, he attended Wayne County Community College, studying music and art. Beau loved music, writing songs, singing, playing the keyboard and he was awesome with the drums. While attending WCCC, he met Leatrice Buford. In August 1999, they married, and to this union were born two wonderful children, Valron and Nia Scott.

Beau relocated his family to Indianapolis, Indiana, sometime after 1999. Here he became known as “Bedo, the tattoo artist”. His artwork was known throughout the state of Indiana, because he did “tats” for so many people, from those in the community to sports stars. One of the most noted basketball players to receive a tattoo from Beau was Greg Oden, #11 of Ohio State. There is still a #11 framed jersey hanging in Beau’s living room to commemorate this. Unfortunately, constant use of a tattoo gun and other medical conditions took a toll on his body.

Years later, his health began to decline, and he moved to Lansing, Michigan, to be closer to family. In Lansing, he joined the Eliezer Temple Church, under Bishop David W. Maxwell, Senior Pastor. Beau became great friends with the Assistant Pastor, Elder Benjamin Fomby; they developed such a relationship that Beau affectionately called him “Dad”.

In 2018, Beau was blessed with a great bundle of joy. His daughter had Nyrie, she was the love of his life. So many times, because they still lived in Indianapolis he would say “I miss my girls, I just want to see my girls”. Now he is watching from Heaven, seeing his girls in everything they do.

Beau leave to cherish his memory, son, Valron Scott of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; daughter, Nia Scott of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother, Marcella Scott of Lansing, Michigan; three brothers, all of Lansing, Michigan, Calvin Scott III, David Scott, and Donald (LeeElla) Scott; three sisters of Detroit, Michigan, Kutiece (William) Banks Ellis, Zinnia Harrell-Copeland, and Christine Moore; seven aunts; two uncles, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends, Fred McClue, Dia Dawson, Theron Bowie, Trent, Tracey, and Katrina Radcliff. When you start naming folks, you might leave somebody out, but there are people that must be mentioned because they have been there for him during all of his 40 years – two special cousins, Quandralynn Radcliff of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Kimberly Moore of Columbus, Ohio. Last of all, the love of his heart, Nyrie Scott, granddaughter.
