Benita Lynn Wilson (Lansing)

Mrs. Benita Lynn Wilson passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan. Age 56 years old. She was born on February 26, 1966, in Muskegon, Michigan; the daughter of Lillian Lavern Parker-Ward and Bennie Will Chambers, Jr.


Benita attended Muskegon High School and was a 1984 graduate. She relocated from Muskegon to Lansing, Michigan in April of 1990, to raise her family with her hard-working husband, Freddy Wilson, Jr. Benita went to Lansing Community College for 2 years and received her associate degree in law enforcement. She worked for the State of Michigan, Department of Corrections for the last 22 ½ years. Benita enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family and loved ones, reading, having inspirational one-on-one conversations, and just bringing joy and happiness into others’ lives.


Benita was married to Freddy for 35 years and they were blessed to raise their 5 amazing children together and get to see and spoil their grandkids as well. She had such a peaceful, soft, delicate, and loving personality. She was always so stylish and could steal the gaze of the room as soon as she walked in. She loved to make people laugh and feel good and loved to laugh at herself. Benita always lived her life to the fullest and tried to make everyday count, and she was always a ray of light, her smile and energy was like no other. Benita will be truly missed.


She leaves to cherish her memory, her five children, Freddie Lee Wilson III, Darrius Dawan (Kayla) Wilson, Aaron Jerome Wilson, Sr., Brittney Sade Wilson, and Bridgette Sharna Wilson; stepdaughter, Shatila Miranda Wilson; eight grandchildren, Amya Nicole Wilson, Aaron Jerome Wilson, Jr., Amarius De’mir Wilson, Journey Ka’lese Suttles, Giselle Lee Wilson, Tristan Karmello Suttles, Lauryn Chanel Wilson, and London Lee Wilson; mother, Lillian Lavern Parker-Ward; father, Bennie Will Chambers, Jr.; six sisters, Latitia (Troy) Fox, Regina (Christopher) Johnson, Benika (Marcus) Longmire, Tonika Chambers, Bennie Chambers, and Fatima Flower; brother, Christopher Mitchell; many nieces and nephews; 16 aunts; 10 uncles; many cousins; six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends including her best friends, Vanessa Clark, Tonja Parker and Lula Chambers.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddy Lee Wilson, Jr.
