Bernice Caviness passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Saginaw Geriatrics Home. Age 80 years. She was born January 31, 1933 in Weona, Arkansas to Fletcher and Minnie Conner.
Bernice was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan where she was a member of Mt. Olive Institutional Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Marvin T. Smith. She was a faithful employee of Eaton Corporation for over 30 years. Bernice enjoyed working in her garden and fishing. She was a self-made woman who was very independent. Bernice was a sweet, caring mother who loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. They were the apple of her eye. Her presence will be truly missed by all who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Rhonda Davis; one son, Errol L. (Rhonda) Caviness; two grandchildren, Shonda and Sherrol Caviness; one great-grandchild, Cecilia Garcia; two sisters, Flora Conn and Rosemary Clay; two brothers, Robert and Leroy Conner; several nieces and nephews including her favorites, Linda Lowe, Carolyn Cain and Glenn Lowe; mother and father-in-law, Theodore and Maxine Caviness; many other relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Minnie Conner, one son, Earl D. Caviness, two sisters, Gladys Moore and Dean Porter, one brother, Charles Conner.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Carleen Brown, Keona Ezell, and her Hospice nurse Sally, the staff of Saginaw Geriatrics Home, Hospice and Region 7.
