Bertha Lee Hardison

March 24, 1938 — November 23, 2022

On Wednesday, November 23, 2022, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, left the earthly realm and was welcomed into the gates of Heaven. Bertha Lee Hardison was born on March 24, 1938, in Panola, Alabama, to the late Odell Stanton and Mary Stanton.

Bertha graduated from North Sumpter High School in Panola, Alabama, Class of 1957, and relocated to Michigan in 1958. She accepted Christ at an early age, and was a longtime faithful member of St. Luke CME Church for over 50 years, under the leadership of the late Reverend O.L. Barr, Reverend Aaron McFadden, and current Pastor, Mae Joyce Braddock-Redfearn. She was involved in many ministries at St. Luke including the Missionary Board and Gospel Choir.

Ms. Bertha was a very soft-spoken, quiet person who loved her family and church family. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to Christian music, baking, doing crossword puzzles, and knitting.

She leaves to cherish loving memories, three children, Regina Stanton, Herman Stanton, and Beverly Hardison; two grandchildren, Leatrice (Raphell) Cooper, and Derrick Jackson; one great-grandchild, Ja’Charri Leavell, and two great-great-grandchildren, Zeyli Turner and Nolan Turner; many nieces and nephews; also left to cherish her memories is her special cousin, Laura Quarles.

Bertha Lee was preceded in death by her mother and father, Odell Stanton, and Mary Stanton; many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chris, Robin, Amelia, and Mrs. Margaret.
