Mrs. Bertha Mae Lee passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Great Lakes Rehab Center at the age of 80 years. She was born on May 26, 1937 in Marion, Arkansas to Lucius and Mabel Dawson.
Proud and driven, Bertha completed high school and went on to complete her degree in nursing at Purdue University. She married Albert Brooks and had four wonderful children. Bertha began her career as a Registered Nurse at Saginaw General Hospital, now Covenant HealthCare-Harrison. She later joined the nursing unit at Saginaw Steering Gear. From there, she enjoyed many years in supervision and later retired from Steering Gear. Bertha was a very classy lady with good taste in everything that she did. She loved and cherished her family, especially her beloved uncle, John Sanders.
Bertha leaves to cherish loving memories one daughter, Risa (Clifford) West; three sons, Robert Brooks, Albert Lynn (Bonnie) Brooks, and Richard Brooks; thirteen grandchildren, Sarah Dawson, Dorian Brooks, Camille Jefferson, DeShannon Ford, Harrison Brooks, Leandra Brooks, Cameron Brooks, Lauren Brooks, Jaylen Brooks and Gentry Brooks, Ethan West, Klaressa West, Clifford West, Jr. and Caresse West; many great and great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends; special friend, Dorothy Perry.
Mother was preceded in death by one son, Michael Dawson; parents, Lucius and Mabel Dawson; brother, L.C. Dawson, and special uncle, John Sanders.
