Bettie Rush

October 20, 1950 — April 7, 2013

Bettie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rosehill Baptist Church in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was a 1968 graduate of ND Taylor High School in Yazoo City, Mississippi. After relocating to Saginaw, Michigan, she began employment with Community Hospital Services retiring after over 20 years of faithful service. Bettie was also a member and union steward for the Teamsters Local 406. She served as treasurer for the Sickle Cell Association of Saginaw County. Bettie had been employed with the Foster Grandparent Program at Heavenrich Elementary School. She was a member of Agape Faith Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Joseph Rodriguez Sr. In her spare time she enjoyed watching her favorite Christian shows and old comedies. Gone but not forgotten, Bettie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Henry (Brenda) Gibbs; four nieces, Patrice Dotson-Parks, Montgomery, Alabama, Lisa Polk, Chicago, Illinois, Stephanie and Andrea Gibbs, Hermitage, Tennessee; two nephews, McKentley Sanders, St. Louis, Missouri, Paul Johnson, Los Angeles, California; one aunt, Will Ella Giles, Yazoo City, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends including her best friend, Rachel Roby, special friend, Consuelo Burns and close friend, Glen Rush.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Litt and Elizabeth Gibbs, one brother, Litt Gibbs Jr., one sister Loraine Young.
The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant Visiting Nurses Association, the staff of James E. Cartwright Care Center, her awesome caregivers who took such wonderful care of Bettie, her numerous prayer partners, the Ledyard Street community and to everyone who offered a kind word, condolence and prayers.
