Betty Anne Allen (Lansing)

June 9, 1951 — May 23, 2024

Ms. Betty Anne Allen was born on June 9, 1951, in Isola, Mississippi to William and Oseylee Hill. She was the second eldest of eight children.

In the early 1960s, Betty moved to Lansing, Michigan with her family where she attended Eastern High School. She was employed by Sparrow Hospital and later, General Motors. In November of 1969, Betty married Lee Allen and to that union they nurtured and raised five children; Lee Jr., Teresa, Chris, Keya and Cedric.

In her younger years, Betty attended Bethlehem Temple Church with her mother and was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. She attended many church conventions and enjoyed sharing those memories with her children.

Betty was loving, funny and real. She loved her family and spent much of her time caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching sports—especially basketball—and she absolutely loved “her” LA Lakers!

Betty also enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, visiting the casino, caring for her plants and cooking; she was absolutely the best cook! Her grandchildren would rave about several of her dishes such as her sloppy joe and banana pudding. Her nieces, along with many others, enjoyed many of her delicious meals. Although she seemed quiet, Betty was attentive and not much got past her. She’d take it all in and then enjoy a good laugh when the timing was right.

Ms. Betty Anne Allen departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her son, Lee Allen, Jr.; parents, William Sr. and Oseylee Hill; brother, Donnie Hill; sisters, Gloria Davis, Alecia Jackson; and sister-in-law, Michele Hills.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children; Teresa (Shelton) Williams, Chris (fiance’ Loni Camper) Allen, Keya Allen and Cedric Allen; eight grandchildren, Tyneisa (special friend Tom Reynolds), Danielle (Gary) Jackson, Lydell, Jamar, Qualis, Kara, Tayshawn and Chris Jr.; twenty great-grandchildren; three brothers, Herman Hills, William Hill Jr. and Vernon (Mercy) Hill; sister, Irene Nash and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
