Ms. Betty J. Riley passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her residence. Age 74 years. Betty Jean was born February 17, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ida Mae Lawrence.

Betty was raised in Chicago where she attended McCorkle Elementary and Dusable High School. While in high school, Betty was employed as a cashier at National Foods. Later, she was employed at Illinois Bell which brought her to Saginaw, Michigan in 1996 until her retirement. After retiring, Betty started a daycare; she took care of many kids within the community. She also fostered and worked at the Underground Railroad. Betty enjoyed knitting and family nights playing Pokeno. She was known for cooking Sunday dinners for her family. Betty liked to stay busy; she owned several bars and restaurants over the years.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Angela, Chicago, Illinois, Genesha, Nayana, and Niana; one son, Nathaniel (Yulonda), Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Jordan and Jarrett Diamond, of Chicago, D’Aisha Simpkins, Saginaw, Aubree Wiggins, Ny’lah Riley, and Nasir Riley, Jacksonville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Kashtyn Diamond, Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Barbara Lawrence; one brother, Larry Lawrence; five nieces, Bridgett, Keyatta, Crystal, Taylor, and Olivia; one nephew, Bryson; many other relatives and friends.

Ms. Riley was preceded in death by a host of family and friends.
