Betty Jean Wallace passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at her residence, after a two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. Age 74 years. She was born July 6, 1938 in Deerfield Beach, Florida to Floyd and Viola Madison.
Betty was a 1958 graduate of Blanch Ely High School in Pompano Beach, Florida. She attended Bethune Cookman College for 2 years in Daytona Beach, Florida. Betty married Lionel Wallace on August 31, 1961. She retired in 1992 from the State of Michigan Caro Regional Center after many years of service. Betty was a resident of Vassar, Michigan and a faithful member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Broaddus.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 51 years, Lionel Wallace Sr.; three daughters, Lavonne R. Wallace, Santa Clara, California, Lavett M. Wallace, Lathrup Village, Michigan, Lydia B. Wallace, Saginaw, Michigan; one son, Lionel (Jennifer) Wallace Jr., Superior Township, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Kawona Wallace, Lanier T. Wallace Jr., Quantel Wallace, LeRon Wallace, Madison Wallace, Leonardo Shacks Jr., LaNaea Shacks, Sydney Gonder, Anastasia Wright; ten great-grandchildren, Cedric Marshall, Raquan Eaford, Isaiah Eaford, Destiny Eaford, Jaiveon Hall, LeRon Wallace Jr., London Watkins, Stephaun Lovelace Jr., Aliveah Washington, Ailonni Washington; one sister, Louise Box, Deerfield Beach, Florida; one brother, Reverend Edward Madison, Deerfield Beach, Florida; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Donella and Johnny Brown, Mamie and Robert Baldwin.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Viola Madison; one son, Lanier T. Wallace Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Williams, Mildred Bracy; three brothers, Reverend James E. Bryant, Floyd Madison Jr., William Madison.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Watkins family, Constance Wallace, Debra Bridgewaters, the Lewis family and the Roberts family.
