Betty Monique Newton "Ke-Ke"

November 10, 1989 — November 13, 2023

Ms. Betty Monique Newton ‘“Ke-Ke” our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, niece, cousin, auntie, and friend, gained her heavenly wings suddenly on the morning of November 13, 2023. Age 34 years. Ke-Ke was born November 10, 1989, to Tanyacherice Newton and K.C. Lawrence, in Chicago, Illinois.

Betty moved to Saginaw, Michigan, with family when she was a year old. She attended Buena Vista schools. Betty loved to eat, especially spicy food; her favorite foods were chicken and seafood. She enjoyed watching Tubi and Lifetime movies, and taking daily naps was a must. Betty also enjoyed playing basketball, doing hair, cooking, singing, dancing, and being the life of the party. Most of all, Betty truly loved her family. At every party, gathering or any event, “Dancing Betty” is up dancing, enjoying herself and making the kids dance. She also enjoyed traveling and making others smile with her jokes. Betty was the most dramatic person in our family, but she was loved. Her smile would brighten the room. Betty will be deeply missed by family and friends.

She leaves to treasure loving memories her children, Charles Barnes Jr., Shonteriya Willis, James Willis Jr., and Efrem Turner III; parents, Tanyacherice (Albert) Gainwell, K.C. (Jasmyne) Lawrence, and Samuel (Sheila) McMillon; siblings, Frank Newton, K.C. Lawrence, Sharon (Anthony) Tinsley, Tanyacherice, Samuel, Martell, and Bethany McMillon; a host of nieces, and nephews, including special nieces and nephews, Ronnie Williams, DeZier and Mi’Dynasti Tinsley, Adrian McMillon, and Samiya Beasley; grandparents, Frank Conic, Georgia Conic, and K.C. Lawrence; aunts and uncles, Kendra Reeves, Christopher Conic, Terrence McMillon Sr., Charlie Lawrence, Phillis (Micheal) Lawrence-Little; one special uncle, Frank Conic; many god-brothers and god-sisters including three special god-sisters, Shun Tyler, Rodell Hayes and Fateya Miller; a special friend, Malcolm Roach, many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Sharon Montgomery and Virginia Dennis; uncles, Frank Conic III and Curtis Lawrence; and three nephews.

The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who has been there for them during their bereavement. You are deeply appreciated.
