Betty Salter (Lansing)

Mrs. Betty Ann Hunter Salter, affectionately know as "Bett",  transitioned from this earthly realm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 79 years old. She was born on Friday, June 4, 1943, to Kattie M. Lewis and Alex Hunter in Jefferson, Alabama.

Betty attended George P. Austin High School in Jefferson. She moved to Demopolis, Alabama in 1968. Betty married Charles Salter “Cool Breeze” in 1971. She relocated to Lansing, Michigan with her 4 children in May 1977.

Betty was a loving, creative Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Auntie, and Friend and will be missed by many. Betty lived life to the fullest, a testament to her great health, she enjoyed being in nature. Betty loved to fish all day and almost every day that the weather permitted, she enjoyed cooking for her family and her neighbors. Betty also enjoyed taking the bus or sometimes driving to the Casino.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Purlia (James) Wells, Lansing, Michigan and Artelia Salter, Snellville, Georgia; son, Nathaniel “Nate” Adams, Detroit, Michigan; sister, Rosa Scott, Bessemer, Alabama; grandchildren, Trey Adams, Dante Adams, Brandon, Joshua, and Julian Wells, Latoya Rembert , Tyler (Devon) Searcy, Keanna Adams, Alexis Adams, Shayla and Shira Salter, Johnathan and Mackenzie Adams; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousins, Lillian Taylor and Lucy Lewis, many other relatives and friends including special childhood friends, Alice Aldridge and Dorothy (Rachel) Burrell.

Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Adams; grandson, Ronrico Adams, parents, Kattie M. Lewis and Alex Hunter; bonus mother Maple Hunter; sister, Ada Anderson Burrell; brothers, John Lewis and Ray Hunter.
