On May 27, 1940, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Clarence and Mattie Thompson were blessed with their youngest daughter, whom they named Betty Gean. As a young girl, Betty moved to Saginaw, Michigan, with her family. Some years later, she met and married the love of her life, Clyde Sims. They were wed for fifty-six years. Three sons were born to this union: Randy, Ryan, and Roger.
Everyone who knew Betty knew she loved plants of all types and watching old black and white western movies. She was a member of South 17th Street Church of Christ and a homemaker. She was one who cherished her husband and loved her sons and family.
Betty transitioned from this life Monday, March 10, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Her parents predeceased her; husband Clyde Sims; son Ryan Sims; brother Clarence Thompson (Milly), sister, Marjell Moore; sister, Ruth Pinner (MC); sister, Helen Arthur (Joe); brother Ernest Thompson, Sr.; daughter-in-love, Debbie Renee Sims; sisters-in-love, Norma Jean Chapman; Cleo Jones; Helen Fife; Joyce Sims; and Clarice Davis; brothers-in-love, Jimmy Sims; Minort Sims.
Those who will cherish her memory and mourn her absence are her sons, Randy Cole Sims, Sr., Cocoa, Florida and Roger Sims, Atlanta, Georgia; brothers-in-love Edward (Bobbie) Sims, Bobby Earl Sims, William Sims, and Pete Jones; sisters-in-love Delores Henry, Doris Ann Sims, Annette Sims, Daaiyah Muhammed; eight grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
