Billie Gene Henry

November 24, 1954 — September 7, 2019

Minister Billie Gene Henry was born November 24, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to Booker T. Mays and Mary Johnson-Henry. He transitioned to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the age of 64 years.

Billie graduated from Buena Vista High School, “Class of 1972.” Upon completion of high school, he joined the United States Army, where he retired after twenty years of service. In 2004, Billie worked as a contractor overseas in Doha, Qatar. He extended his education by receiving a degree in Electrical Systems, and later became employed with Wieland Truck and Leasing Center, from where he also retired. Billie held several other employment positions as well.

He was a faithful member of New Christ Community Church under the leadership of Reverend William D. Aldridge Sr., later serving as a minister under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Eugene O. Seals. He was a mentor to the young men in the church along with Pastor Seals in their Bible Study Class, as well as in the community. He was a member of the Brotherhood Choir and Mass Choir. His passion was to serve as an usher and a greeter and he was always willing to make sure the church was maintained. He was truly a “man after God’s own heart.”

A faithful husband, loving father, brother, proud grandfather and loyal friend is how Billie will be forever remembered and cherished.
