Billie Ray Holmes, the 3rd child of 6 born to Jimmie T. & Martha (Triplett) Holmes, in Louisville, Mississippi , on March 22, 1951. Billie was educated in the Saginaw Public School System, graduating from Saginaw High School in 1969 and attending Delta college years later.
Billie was employed as a recruitment specialist at the Opportunity Industrialization Center (OIC) of Saginaw from 1974 thru 1987 where his health required that he take a medical disability leave. Billies health challenges limited his mobility, and he became an information enthusiast. He was an avid reader of books, newspapers, and magazines. Billie always maintained at least 10 magazine subscriptions a month for his intellectual stimulation. He loved sports, the NFL, the NBA , Baseball, Tennis, Hockey, Golf. He would watch every game that he could, knowing not only the different teams in each league but many of the players as well.
Billie was well versed on the state of the economy, locally, nationally, and internationally. He stayed on top of political issues, politicians and their positions on political issues. CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Bloomburg Report, and BET were his friends, and because of his knowledge and awareness of issues, Billie had an opinion on most subjects.
Billie Ray Holmes was called home by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday March 6, 2012 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his mother Martha, his older brother Jim Henry and a younger brother. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his father Jimmie T. Holmes of Saginaw Michigan; two sisters, Dorothy Redeemer, Jimmie Smith, both of Saginaw, Michigan; one brother Paul Holmes, Detroit, Michigan; his loving nieces,Teesha Redeemer, Melisa (Ellis) Freeman, Kansas City, Misssouri, Nicole Holmes, Saginaw, Michigan, Ebonee Holmes, Roswell, Georgia, Adesola Holmes, Detroit, Michigan; nephews, Kedrick (Diana) Redeemer, Palmdale, California, Darius Holmes, Saginaw, Michigan; two Aunts, Essie B Hayden, Los Angeles, California, and Bessie Coleman, Louisville, Mississippi; seven great nieces; nine great nephews; one great-great nephew and many beloved cousins, friends and close acquaintances including two very special life time friends who were like brothers to him, Maurice and Dennis McKinney.
