Mr. Billy Wayne Batts affectionately known as Appleman passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Heartland Rehabilitation Center. Age 66 years. He was the 7th child born on January 24, 1947 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to McElroy and Mary Pollock Batts.
Billy accepted Christ at early age. He was a member of St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Hodge. Billy retired from Grey Iron Foundry in 1994 and was a member of UAW Local 668. His favorite hobbies were softball, volleyball, tennis, hunting, gardening, walking, fishing and biking. Billy was a low-key, even keeled person who believed in minding his own business and you minding yours.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife of 43 years, Quintilla Batts; one daughter, Rona L. Batts, Philadelphia, Mississippi; three sons, Dawayne L. (Kathleen) Batts, Andre R. Batts, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Damon J. Batts Sr., San Antonia, Texas; two beloved grandsons, Bradley Wayne Batts and Damon Batts Jr. DJ one sister, Lessie Batts Lyons; four brothers, Leonard (Irene) Batts, William W. Batts, Bennie (Bettye) Batts, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Norman (Rita) Batts, Philadelphia, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews including his special nieces and nephew, Hope Young, Helen Thomas, Kim Butler, Velissa Batts, Jackie Batts, Dorothy Jean Drake, Monica Stribling, Jeremiah Batts; one aunt, Kathrean Stribling Loper, Philadelphia, Mississippi; one uncle, J.D. Stribling, Philadelphia, Mississippi; his sisters-in-law, Alice (Rudolph) Tatum, Philadephia, Mississippi, Esther Stribling, Carthage, Mississippi; brothers-in-law, Levell (Helen)) Stribling, Southfield, Michigan, Norman L. Stribling, Chicago, Illnois, Percy L. Stribling, Denver, Colorado; many other relatives and friend including special friends, Robert (Exie) Robertson, Willie Agnew, David Lee, Rennie (Madalyn) Stribling, William (Marie) Thompson, Earl Giles, Odie Kelly, John and Lisa Turner, Sammy and Mattie Hooper.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, McElroy and Mary Batts, two sisters, Ruby and Maxine, two brothers, Lee and James, six brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law.
