Bobby Jean Green (Lansing)

Ms. Bobby Jean Green was born March 25, 1938, in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Dessie and Butler Couthen. Bobby passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at her home, in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 85.

The family moved to South Carolina while Bobby was an infant, and lived there until moving to Lansing, Michigan in 1953.

In 1956, Bobby married John Wesley Cox, Jr. and to that union a son, John Wesley Cox, III., was born.

Bobby gave her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a faithful member of Abundant Grace Faith Church under the leadership of Pastors Louis and Pamela Dixon.

Bobby leaves to cherish her memory son, John Wesley Cox, III.; granddaughter, Brittany Harris; great-granddaughters, Alaisa Harris, Kh’ynia Harris, and Naomi Harris; brothers, Alexander Cauther (Valada), Perry Randson, John Couthen, John Williams, and James Williams; sisters-in-law, Ella Couthen and Lillian Couthen; many nieces, including special nieces, Vanessa Williams and Katherine Williams; many nephews including, special nephews, John Williams, Jr., and Jermaine Williams; as well as many other friends, and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dessie and Butler Couthen; sisters, Ollie Mae Stuckey and Louise English; and brothers, Henry Couthen, James Couthen, and Arthur Couthen.
