Bonita Harris (Lansing)

February 21, 1986 — February 2, 2020

Ms. Bonita Harris passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 33 years. She was born on February 21, 1986, in Lansing, Michigan to Treva Hutchinson and Branford Harris who preceded her in death.

She attended Detroit Public Schools and later received her General Education Diploma. At an early age Bonita professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at First Glory Missionary Baptist Church.

Bonita was raised in Detroit where she developed an affinity for reading. As a young child she anticipated going with her family to their weekly library visits. Her love of reading assisted her in becoming a great poet and writer. Her writing skills and great story-telling landed her a book deal. Outside of her passion for reading and writing, Bonita loved being a mother! Her children, Demarion, Na’jayia, Kynnedi and Serenity meant everything to her.

She loved to spend time with her family and her special group of best friends, LaKesha Brooks, Tyaja Hamilton, Jovon Palazzola, Shaurice Morris, and Jocelyn Burleigh. They lovingly referred to her as the “therapist”. Bonita was a very loving and caring person who would go out her way to help others. Her love for helping others drove her to pursue a career as a caregiver.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Demaerion, Na’jayia, Kynnedi and Serenity; mother, Treva Hutchinson; siblings, Charles Lewis (Sylvia), TyWonda (Michael) Fudge and Dominique Hutchinson; six nephews, Eric, Leiland, Uvon, Camron, Michael, and Bryson; one niece, Lillie Lewis and many other family and friends.
