Bonnie Ruth Peoples Gatson

July 28, 1957 — December 29, 2023

Bonnie Ruth Peoples Gaston, 66, was born on July 28, 1957, to Fred Peoples and Margaret Louise Strickland in Saginaw, MI.


Bonnie graduated from Saginaw High School in 1975. She moved to Danville in 1984. She later pursued her education and achieved her Associate’s Degree in Accounting at Danville Area Community College.


Bonnie’s passion was being a child of God. Her lifestyle displayed it. She consistently studied the word of God and ministered to all. Bonnie wrote and produced plays, she held Bible Study and Women’s groups in her home and counseled many people. She even went into the streets of Danville and ministered to the lost and saved so many souls. She was a true discipline for the Lord. Bonnie was all about her heavenly Father’s Kingdom. She was a blessing to all who met her.


Bonnie was known for being very family oriented. She loved spending time with her family and loved ones. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Leon Gaston; two sons, Andre Peoples and James Peoples; daughter, Brandi (Meddie) Demmings; special daughter, Cassandra Morris; beloved daughter in law, Roslyn Peoples; goddaughter, Tanesha Brown; godson, Charles Howard; grandchildren, Drevontae Peoples, Kolbi Wilson, Andre’a Peoples, Myracle Peoples, Chaunice Sherfield, Darian Sherfield, December Thompson, Roycell Royal, Lavonte Royal, Kasen Gaston, Steven Young, Anya Young, Timara Pittman, Armoni, Jeremiah, Jamya and Jamiya Jones; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Marcie (Willie) Culberson, Della Williams, Barbara Flemming, Sylvia (Robert) Meredith, Relinda Bradley, Elizabeth Hackett and Juanita Lester-Polson; brother, Freddie Cole; two dear sisters who she met in Danville, Barbara Taylor and Sheila Walker; beloved niece, Shavon George; beloved nephew, Willie Roby; and many more nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Minnie Roby, Freddie Tillman; her brothers, James George, James Peoples, Lee Royal-Peoples and Sylvester George; and, brother in laws, Pastor Rufus Bradley, Sr. and James Flemming.


Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 noon Saturday January 13, 2024 at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Danville, Illnois: Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Eulogist: Pastor Thomas W. Miller. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St. Danville is in charge of arrangements.
