A beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, and Friend, Brenda Ann Caldwell, passed away on September 8, 2024, in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 67 years. She was born October 24, 1956, in Saginaw, Michigan to Olarvean and Albert Caldwell.
Growing up, Brenda spent most of her time with her siblings. She was the second youngest but had a big personality as if she were the eldest. Brenda attended Houghton Elementary School, and Eddy Middle School, and was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1974. Brenda believed in hard work and spent years working for Dunkin Donuts, and then Vlasic Pickle Company until retirement. She loved to make people laugh! You could always catch her on the phone with a smile or out on the front porch catching up with family and friends. She often would say “What the hell you want?!” if you popped up at the house without calling. Her hobbies included painting her nails, hair care, cooking and grilling, family time during the holidays, playing Candy Crush on any tablet around, DIY home projects, and watching the news and soap operas. She loved to show her support for any occasion whether it was a graduation, birthday, baby shower, wedding, or school function. Though Brenda was small, she ruled with an iron fist and was the “Root to it all” for her four children, daughter-in-law, four grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. No matter how she felt or what was going on she would always say “I’m okay and it will be okay.” As we celebrate you today, we echo that, and in due time, it will be okay.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters and two sons: Keisha Caldwell, DaRon (LaTasha) Caldwell, Ebony Caldwell, and Tyrone Pettigrew; grandchildren: Leontae Caldwell, Deon Lindsey Jr., Chandra Caldwell, KeShawn McMullen; great-granddaughter, ZaKylah Lindsey; sisters: Almeta Mills, Pauline Strong, Rilla Caldwell, and Katie Henry; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and special friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Olarvean and Albert Caldwell; grandparents, Carrie and Robert Caldwell Sr., Ann Calhoun, and Matt Baskin; brother, Clifford Caldwell; brother-in-law, Willie Mills Sr; nephew, DaMichael Mills; close friend, Russell Pettigrew; bonus son, Keontae Amerson, and other family and friends.
The family would like to express special thanks to former classmates, colleagues, church family, extended family, and the Palliative/Hospice Team at Covenant HealthCare.
