Brian Craig Franklin was born August 30, 1964, the son of Mr. Nathan Shaffer, Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy Buford. He was called home to be with God on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the age of 56 years.
In 1973, Brian and his mother moved to Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Houghton, Longstreet, and Potter Elementary, Arthur Eddy Middle School and Saginaw High School. He enjoyed being with his family, dancing, playing cards, cooking, playing drums, singing, listening to music and being outdoors.
Brian loved God. He loved to praise and worship God. He gave his life to God at an early age and he continued to praise God throughout his life. He was a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Johnny Goodman and later attended Lighthouse of Glory Church under the leadership of Pastor Bertha Goodman.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Shaffer, Sr. and Dorothy Buford; brother, Nathan Shaffer, Jr.; sister, Janis (Willie) Cook; grandparents, Mrs. Lillie Travis and Mr. Willie Franklin; nephews, Steven Johnson, Troy West; great-nephews, Isaiah Harper, Javion and Jovion Peterson; uncle, Bishop Joe Nichols; aunts, Deloris (Curtis) Leggett, Ethel James, Catherine Gilkey, Carol Anderson; brother-in-law, Theodore Johnson Sr.; cousin, Tomika Anderson.
He leaves to cherish his memories seven sisters, Anita Johnson, Cynthia Bell, Tammy West, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Joyce McCullough, St. Louis, Missouri, Vanessa Goldey, New Orleans, Louisiana, Shellean Thornton-Dixon, Fairburn, Georgia, Tia (Michael) Seymour, Gulfport, Mississippi; four brothers, Bruce Walker III, Saginaw, Michigan, Dwayne Sr. (Stacey) Walker, New Orleans, Louisiana, Ricky Jr. (Laura) Shaffer, St Louis, Missouri, Derrick (Melissa) Madison, Gulfport, Mississippi; aunts, Lillie Nichols and Lizzie Martin, both of Gulfport, Mississippi; one uncle, Herman (Eva) Shaffer, Pickens, Mississippi; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Courtney Bishops, Greg Harper, Troy Ducre and Gerald Wright Sr.
