Brian Mccray, Sr. (Lansing)

November 1, 1961 — December 20, 2020

Mr. Brian Webster McCray, our beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend was called home Sunday, December 20, 2020, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 59 years. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 1, 1961 to his parents, William Calvin McCray, Jr. and Lois Beatrice McCray blessing their union with their 11th child.

Brian received his education through the Lansing School District attending Michigan Avenue Elementary School, Gardner Junior High School and J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Harper High School in Chicago, Illinois. He also attended Lansing Community College and studied general education courses.

Brian loved playing basketball and football, collecting elephant figurines, listening to the Blues and dancing. His hobby was going fishing. He loved going to BB Kings Blues Club in Nashville, Tennessee.

Throughout his adult life, Brian held employment at various jobs working as a laborer in various facilities in Lansing, Michigan, Nashville, Tennessee, and Columbia, Tennessee.

Brian was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather that loved unconditionally and was dedicated to his children and family. He briefly raised his three granddaughters while residing in Tennessee. Brian was well known of his lively spirit. You knew he was around by hearing his voice or laughter before you saw him. He was the life of a party he attended. He was known by family and friends as Be Bop, Torpedo Head, Webster, and Uncle B.

We are all going to miss Brian two stepping and nudging in conversation saying, “You hear Me?”

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Ieshia Adams, Brian McCray, Jr., and Brandon McCray all of Lansing, Michigan; 10 grandchildren, Fantasy Adams-Terry, Charm Adams, Brazil McCray, Brandon McCray Jr. and Amari Mallett all of Lansing, Michigan; Tarzsa Gibbs of Chicago, Illinois; Avionna Allen, Avayah Allen, Brooklyn Allen, Brittish Allen all of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchild, Aristany Terry of Lansing, Michigan; sisters, Geraldine Rush and Patricia Terry of Lansing, Michigan, Deloris Curry and Judy McCray of Detroit, Michigan, Hazel McCray of Harper Woods, Michigan, and Lisa McCray of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brothers, Curlee (Ruby) Foster, Anthony Curry, Sr., Donnie McCray of Lansing, Michigan; William C. (Monica) McCray III of Antioch, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including lifelong childhood friends, Curtis Mitchell, Robert Anderson and Arthur Pointer; close friends, Robert Kelly, Bill and Zo Sturden; and Special Friend, Shirley Dorris.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Treasure Stewart-Adams; his parents, William Calvin McCray, Jr. and Lois Beatrice McCray; grandmother, Lextie Foster; sisters, Stella McCray and Verna Weakly; niece, Anita Drake; aunt and uncle, GeGertha and Viola Washington.

The family of the late Brian Webster McCray, Sr. wishes to acknowledge with deepest appreciation the many comforting messages, prayers, and many other expressions of kindness evidenced at this in thought and deed.
